My Inspiration For The Archman

My main source of inspiration for The Archman came from a book titled A Billion Wicked Thoughts. Keep in mind I haven’t actually read this book, even the slightest bit. Like everyone else my age, I watched a YouTube video where someone briefly talks about it. So needless to say, I am an expert on this matter.

Anyways, the book is written by a team of engineers (or so I’m told) who compiled massive amounts of searches made on the internet since its genesis. Unsurprisingly, a large amount of their data was erotic or pornographic in nature. From this data, they extracted many different conclusions. Among them, they found the five most common male archetypes that appear in erotic novels targeted at a female audience. So, in essence, the five most common subjects of the female sexual fantasy. Those five archetypes are: Vampire, Werewolf, Billionaire, Surgeon, and Pirate.

This interesting fact gave me the half-baked idea of creating the ultimate archetype of male sex appeal: a Vampire-Werewolf-Billionaire-Surgeon-Pirate. After receiving this devious bit of inspiration, I began to write my very first romance novel.

At the time, I was very intrigued by the nature of sexual fantasy from a feminine perspective. When asked why, I would tell people that my intrigue came from a genuine inquisitiveness in human psychosexuality. I think the reality was actually that, if I could figure out what the quintessential female fantasy was, that I could embody those traits myself and become something akin to a modern-day Casanova.

Living in the body of a male twenty-something is pretty interesting. Where else would I come up with such a crazy ambition? But for what it’s worth, I think that motivation is probably why this novel was the first that I ever wrote to completion.

Having finished, though, I am disappointed to report that I have not magically acquired the sexual allure of an Edward Cullen or a Christian Grey or a whatever that guy’s name from Outlander was (Scott, maybe? I dunno).

Far be it from me to give up after just one attempt, though! Stay tuned for my second trial: Ezaroth’s Incantation.
